adrafinil/modafanil

Does anyone here have any experiences with either of these drugs? Are they very similar to each other? They are used to treat narcolepsy and daytime sleepiness. I don't have narcolepsy, but I do have bouts of extreme daytime sleepiness, even when I've had plenty of sleep. (This aspect is extremely frustrating.) This poses a terrible problem in my 2 hour daily driving commute.

I take Adrafinil occasionally, when I need the extra alertness. It actually works quite well, though the effect is rather subtle. It doesn't have the "body" effects that most stimulants do - never makes me feel nervous or "wired". When I really need to focus on a project that requires alot of sustained mental effort, Adrafinil definitely helps. Its also great for staying awake when I'm driving a long way. I have used the Olmifon brand, one or two of the 300mg tabs.

I've never tried Modafanil. Its supposed to be somewhat stronger, but its alot more expensive. Adrafinil is somewhat hard on the liver, if taken daily for long periods, or to excess, and Modafinil is said to be less toxic. I only use Adrafinil once in awhile, but I've never noticed any side-effects at all.
