Has anyone here used propranolol or another beta-blocker
to treat the increased anxiety caused by SSRIs early in
treament? What were your results?

Thanks,

Peter

Hi Peter,
I took Wellbutrin for a while last year, and it did make me a bit anxious. I fianlly discontinued it after using 300mgs. daily for sev'l months. I always took 150mgs. SR in the a.m. and snother 150mgs. around 2 in the p.m. Psychologically, it was a good drug for me, but, it made my heart pound within 15 minutes of taking it ALWAYS, which I thought was very weird. It was timed-release, so what was I reacting to--the lovely lavender coating??
Anyway, I have used 120 mgs.timed-release propanolol (brand name-Inderal) for almost 2 yrs. It helped a lot with the anxiety the WB induced, plus I need it for vascular headaches and high blood pressure. It keeps my BP right on target and is a good anxiety 'evener', but not super-strong.
The WB reaction I never figured out. I am still wondering what that vise-grip pressure I wd. feel in my chest was. It was not a blood pressure rise, it was something else....Oh well~
Zannah
