Remeron

Posted by MarkC on December 6, 2000, at 11:20:31

Has alone out there who is trying to treat an Anxienty disorder end up a creating depression because of the use of AD. It seems that the first week of Remeron (30mg)was uneventful accept for some minor side effects (ie. tiredness and dreaming). The second week I felt pretty good (minimal anxiety). The start of the third week introduced a pretty good bout of depression and it is still lasting (going on four days). Will this pass? I know that Remeron is supposed to be an Anti-depressant and my doctor insist that the Remeron is not creating the depression but that the Anxiety was potentially masking it. I just recently had this bout of anxiety start again after 7 years of no symtoms (I didn't use any meds during the first bout 7 years ago w/ the exception of Xanax for a brief time). I'm contiplating stopping the Remeron for fear that is just adding another problem to the equation. Help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Why don't you clobber the anxiety with a quick Xanax and see if the depression is still there.

Watch that Xanax, its very addictive.

I did just that and the depression seemed to disappear...hmmm. Another thing that I have notice though is that I my anxiety seems to be largely present in my legs and then moves to the rest of my body. Does that ever happen to you or anyone else out there? The only other time that I had this anxiety problem was 7 years ago and it was a lot different from this time. Or maybe I just forgot the details.
