Hi, I am new here, but not to depression and SAD. i became so agoraphobic 8 yrs ago, that I refuse to live with anxiety anymore.
ANYWAY - I have decided to go off Effexor. It was not the drug for me, too many side effects. I felt it could have done a better job on the anticipatory anxiety, but did take away all panic attacks.
SIDE EFFECTS: dizziness, heart palps, dry mouth, horrible constipation, total intolerance for temps over 80 degrees, esp bad 90's and humid then worse dizziness, and muscle twitches, and almost passing out(thought it was heat exhaustion-until it happened over and over). Did not help obsessive thoughts either.
Felt like a PMS witch too. I do not get PMS usually.
SSSOOO - I am going on Celexa again, and doing a daily dose of Klonapin.
Start tapering off Effexor tomorrow. Best wishes to all doing this. I hope my experience is better than what I have read. UGH.....
Till later - KA

Look into benadryl for Effexor withdrawal...if you get nausea, look for some over-the-counter Emetrol.

Start tapering off Effexor tomorrow. - KA
> KA, Be aware, many of us had some real issues getting off Effexor. Go VERY slowly, reducing doses over many weeks, but taking everyday.
Maybe you'll be different, and lucky, with no adverse effects.
Make sure your doc's know your plan, and ask thier advice.
Best wishes,
-James
