Meds, how many, how long ...

Posted by Willow on August 4, 2001, at 10:02:33

Had a gp appointment the other day. I'm doing quite well now, but this hasn't been an extended thing, probably the past week. Both my psychologist and gp noticed the change. Here's the problem: gp starts talking about stopping some of the medications. In my opinion I should wait until I've been feeling better longer and than try dropping a few. Or am I just looking for a crutch??

Willow,

Are your GP and paych communicating with each other? Seems to me like they should consult each other before stopping any of your meds. Just a thought.

I always thought that you had to have been doing well a minimum 6 months before you would look at stopping. And if you had a history like mine of repeated problems, you might never stop.

Greg, I've signed a consent for them to communicate regarding myself; however, with my history concerning last doctor not being upfront I've informed psych that I want to know what is said.

Yeah, AKC I guess I have a history. From what I understood I would be on the effexor for quite awhile. I'll have to ask what he meant and which meds he was referring to. I have three prescriptions for my gut, two of which I take, plus the muscle relaxant and effexor on top of the mirapex now.

It does get costly, but if I get better it is worth it. Five years written off!! Good thing time flies!
