Does anyone know about this drug? Have there been any threads in the past. I'm not up to doing a search which requires going through every 2-week period right now.

Hi Abby. When I saw your post, I figured I'd give you a bit of a head start. Vigabatrin is one of those newer anticonvulsant drugs that are supposed to have mood-stabilizing properties. You can think of it as being along the same lines as Neurontin (gabapentin). Seeing the name rang a bell with me regarding some rather important side-effect. I took a look on Medline just to make sure. Unfortunately, it seems that vigabatrin has been linked to a loss of peripheral vision, and it is not rare.

I was on Vigabatrin for 8 years and have only ten degrees of peripheral vision left. The effects are very subtle to start with. I am trying to spread the message to warn users of Sabril to have a visual field test to make sure. I have heaps of info feel free to mail me but here is my Sabril site addy....http://www.ozemail.com.au/~mimster/
