Ok... I'm taking Luvox (75mg at night) and Klonopin (.5mg/day) and I've developed and acne problem. I'm getting pimples that are showing up right between my eyebrows, and above that area on my forehead. They are not small, and they hurt. Every once in awhile they pop up elsewhere also. Does anyone know if either of these meds are know to do this???

Bob,
Acne is caused by an increase in oil production and the bacteria that feed on the oil causing blocked sebaceous glands leading to the common "pimple". Ask your GP for a topical gel such as Retin-A or Diferin Gel to be used at night after you wash your face and Cleocin-T (Clindamycin gel) to be used after you wash your face in the morning. Both of the gels are invisible. The Retin-A or Diferin Gel may cause some redness and peeling, (Diferin Gel being more mild, I have found) the Cleocin-T Gel being a antibiotic in a gel form to reduce the number of bacteria. Although my acne is presently being caused by a hormonal agent, thus leading to excess oil production, the treatments are the same. Some gp's or dermotologists may wish to add an oral antibiotic as well. For me, I have enough meds to deal with and the topical is working very well. Adult acne is very common especially in women due to hormones. Yours is probably mediated by your meds, but is very, very treatable. Good Luck to you, Anne

I'm not taking the same meds as you are but every time I change my dosing I get break-outs, some worse than other times but it usually stabalizes after a while. Say a week or two. Has yours been going on for a long time?

I seem to get a breakout whenever I start an activating drug - e.g. Zoloft. The good news is it seems to go away by itself after a few weeks. But is definitely worth trying the products that Anne suggested in the meantime.
