Can you become a professional trucker (as in "big rigs") while taking ADs or benzos? Does the law vary from state-to-state or is it covered federally?
Thanks.

> ThrudI am not in America Thrud, but I would imagine that may be the case. Best to check it out with your local liscense office. I of course couldn't get my pilots liscense while on psych meds, but I guess you wouldn't want some guy flying a 747 on 5 mg's of Xanax a day either..hehe.
It may also be the case with antidepressants, as even pilots can't take them. (Here in Canada anyways.)
I have a list that deals with work/mental health/meds. Send an email to:

Best wishes..

My ex was a truck driver (semi-) & he took quite a cocktail of drugs & it didn't restrict him. The doctor didn't need to inform the ministry about it. It was sure better than him driving when he was drinking heavily & had no memory of how he'd got there.
When he developed diabetes, then the doctor had to notify the ministry & his licencing was changed. This is in Canada though, don't know how the Sates is for this.
