Is 20 mg considered a therapeutic dose for Celexa (I'm assuming 10 mg isn't, which is what I'm starting with)? Have people had success on this dose? I'm reluctant to push much higher because I'm pretty sensitive to the sexual side-effects (mainly ejaculatory inhibition or delay) of the SSRIs. Augmenting with even low-dose Remeron does not seem to be an option -- extreme sedation, very sensitive to antihistamines. Ditto for Wellbutrin -- weight loss, insomnia.

Depends on how you respond to it. The pharmaceutical company literature says 20-40 mgs for most folks. I'm up to 80, which my pdoc says is the maximum on Celexa (plus I take 450 mgs of Wellbutrin). Talk to your pdoc about other augmentation strategies. Good luck!

My pdoc had a patient which needed up to 240 mg / day of citalopram !!! Thats not a joke ! This patient pooped out quickly on each dose but was stable at 240 mg. I know it is very unusual.
Generally SSRIs do have a flat dose-effect curve but not for all.
