i have appt at McClean with Dr.Stoll info...

Posted by reese1 on October 2, 2002, at 0:42:11

for those of you that know me my name is reese or doug depending on my mood. i'm pretty much at the end of my rope with medications since i have taken them all.

luckily my mother, who is a therapist, and desperatly wants me put on opiates, has set up an appt with Dr. Stoll at McClean hospital in boston.

my question is this: does anyone have any expierence or knowledge of Dr. Stoll. His secretary said he works with opiates. at this point in my life i see no other option. i have been hospitalized a dozen times, been on every med possible. the option other than this is an operation, recommended by this "brilliant" Dr. by the name of Robert Cancro who is the head of psych at NYU. there is no way i am going to have some sort of operation.

i don't mean to offend anyone by my bluntness. i understand the danger of opiates for treatment. but when time no longer moves or actually moves so slowly each minute can be seen spitting into you face with a feeling of glass. etc etc

thank you

Good for you (seeing Dr. Stoll that is). Don't apologize for wanting to try opiates. Until the first MAOI was discovered opiates were one of the two possible medications for depression (the other being stimulants). There's also plenty of evidence from research and clinical experience that opiates can be effective for treatment resistant depression.

Whatever works is right.

You will feel better,

Britt
