Hi. I have depression and anxiety. Had been on Paxil (didn't do anything for me) and Celexa (suddenly made me fall asleep during the day), then took nothing for a few months and was feeling fine.
Now the depression has returned and I'm extremely anxious all the time.
Doc gave me Lexapro to try. But I keep taking out the package and looking at it. I guess the med only works if you actually digest it?!!
I know it's revamped Celexa so not a total unknown to my system, but it seems scary to me to start on medication again.
I keep going back and forth about whether to take it or not.
How have other people got their head around the issue?

Hi mopey,
What finally got me to take medication for anxiety was that I read an article that you can't control anxiety. It's a chemical imbalance. After 6 years of trying to get rid of it on my own, I finally believed it. I am so glad I did :)
My story doesn't really end there - I went on Paxil for the anxiety and ended up becoming manic. Found out I was actually bipolar. I am so glad I went on the medication though, who knows how long I would have lived like that. Now that I know what's really wrong, I can treat it with the right medication :)
