My counselor at the begining of spring semester decided to have me keep track of my moods on a nifty mood calendar that I got off of psychiatry24x7.com and she's just now figured out that my mood swings weren't normal...not like maxed out credit cards and chopping off my hair was all every day occurrances, but she informed my pdoc...and he just started me on the Topomax today, am on 100 mg a day..the weight loss thing doesn't sound so bad (haha) but the soda tasting bad might make me a bit upset. (what about chewing gum??) I live on coke and coffee...But I also feel like I'm taking an entire pharmacy every day with my twice a day wellbutrin habit and my zyprexa at night...I was wondering if there was anything else I should worry about like drug interactions or odd side effects that I should know about?? Any one have a problem with smoking too? does any of this help with that as well??? I would really appreciate any information I could get.

Hi. I have just started taking 50 mgs of Topamax and also 5 mgs. of Zyprexa. I will go to 100 mgs of Topamax in 2 days. I have a little blurry vision, but I think drinking a lot of water makes a big difference. I have stopped caffein for myself because of migraine headaches, but so far I don't have any side effects except blurry vision. Maybe someone else has been on this combo longer. Good luck on the meds.

Okay....So, two days into this stuff and I'm at work, all I can do is stare off into space...poor customer probably felt I was being either rude or a complete moron...because all I could do was blink at her...but anyway, I've got the flat soda thing going on...I can't handle that...I was looking forward to a nice cold coke, and poof..it was flat... how sad I was...thought I was going to cry...I swear the people at work thought I was nutso...but does this go away ever??? And what about the pins and needles? It feels like my hands are asleep....and sometimes my face feels like it's been shot up with novacane...(mainly in my lower lip)...other than being spacey is that all that I should worry about? will this stuff go away?

Having Coke taste flat didn’t go away while I was on Topamax.
