I have a small goiter that the endocrinologist thinks is a result of Li use. Should I d/c the li and switch to another mood stablizer (under doc's care, of course)? The endocrinologist did not want to offer an opinion, and my psychpharm literally says she "does not know the answer." I of course have no clue, and can't find any answers on Medline. Has anyone had experience w/ this?
My thyroid levels are all normal, but I have a goiter that wasn't there 6 months ago. Will it keep growing? Is it dangerous?

It is so simple. The Lithium may sometimes cause goiter. Your thyroid function is slowering down a bit. Then to compensate, your thyroid is growing in size. So your tests came back normal.
So personally i would take a small dose of Synthroid, 25 mcg, to avoid a possible damage of your Thyroid.
Good Luck!
