My doctor has tapered me off adderall XR. I'm on a new medication called Strattera, but it doesnt seem to be working and i've been on it for over 3 months, and still no results, and my grades are droping!. If he does put me back on a stimulant medication, i dont want adderall, it seemed make me slightly euphoric, but then followed by a nasty feeling, wasnt pleasant. Is dexedrine a good med? Desosyn?, please someone help me with accurate information please! My grades are droping fast

Desoxyn is good, but it can also give you a euphoric feeling too... are you sure you don't have bipolar mania? (This doesn't have to feature depression episodes, like some assume).
Sounds like you need a long-acting stimulant, like Dexedrine Spansules. Or Concerta, time-released ritalin. Adderall XR is cute because you don't need to re-dose, but it's not going to help someone with a need to maintain a constant dose in their bloodstream for their mood.
When your doc tries you on something, make sure to arrange another appointment within a week or two, so you don't need to wait a month to try something you find doesn't work within a day.
Oh, and Straterra is often effective when it's combined with a stimulant. It's nice if someone only needs it by itself, but that's just not realistic to expect... lol, silly docs.

If you can, try Adderall with Strattera. A lot of people use this combo, and I find it helpful. The two seem to complement each other well, and if you're already on Strattera, adding Adderall to the mix shouldn't be complicated, especially since you're already experienced with Adderall.

I,too, seem to have the best luck from Dexedrine.Adderrall had the same gripes back in the 60,s when it was used originally as a diet drug called Obetrol. The Shire co.just re-packaged it as an ADD med and it does have those hard ups-and-downs to it.I think all the docs jumped on Strattera as a first line defense to lower their C-2 scripts,as most of em know that stims are one off the best routes to control ADD symptoms. They,ll write up a stim in a minute for a kid,but with adults,it,s a bit different cause the good ol,"addiction"fear goes right along with it,same as Chronic Pain and Opiates.AHH,Society!
