In reply to Strattera ever help reduce social anxiety? (nm), posted by utopizen on September 19, 2003, at 11:37:32
If being a little more directed and less conflicted over writing off some emotional baggage would help, then it might. For me, that included a negative and destructive relative–a real heatseeker. That would be an indirect effect and, as well, might make you less concerned with an objectless dread. Relieving anxiety is the number one thing that Strattera does for me. I seem to remember that some people got angry and hostile on Strattera, but that was not the norm. Strattera doesn't do the dopamine thing, though. That's better for being happily sociable for me.
I don't have anxiety over social issues; I often don't have the desire for them. Those are separate things, right?
It doesn't take that long to try it since the drug is quick to get down to business.

>Yes, social anxiety is basically a lot like ADD- you know you have it, because you will likely have a strong desire to do the thing your brain seems to be preventing yourself from achieving.
Apathy, that's different. People with social anxiety, including me, have a strong desire to be involved in social situations, yet feel their anxiety prevents them from being "themselves" (or achieving their desires).
Klonopin works for me, I was just curious. Klonopin would be more civilized if I didn't have to dose it 3x/day at 1mg/dose... why not XR? I know its 30hr half life, but my doc was right about dosing, if I try taking it 3mg in AM I can tell midday it's not effective.
This is the end of the thread.
