I just started weaning off of effexor xr. I remember reading a few months back a message someone had written saying that they took an over the counter medication while going off of effexor and it really reduced the severity of the withdrawal symptoms. Does anyone remember or know what this medication was? thanks.

I sure do...Benedryl.
I am using it now on week 3 of my tapering, and it really does help!
Hope you try it, and I hope it helps..hang in there!

Benadryl is good, so is the motion sickness drug Antivert (meclizine). I also was helped by caffeine pills and excederin (which has caffeine in it) because of the energy boost. Though don't use those if you are overly anxious or hyper sensitive to caffeine.
