Xanax XR has been working great for my general anxiety, but today I had a bad panic attack even though I'm on a good dose of Xanax XR.
Anybody still having panic attacks even though you're on Xanax?

I take a GENEROUS amount of Xanax XR...(3mg 3x daily) partially because I'm a huge guy...6'7", but partially because I've just been diagnosed with Bipolar II, and once that is helped, I'm going to be weaned off it. However...back to the question, with that huge dose of Xanax, I still encounter anxiety attacks. I do not have panic attacks however.

Hi, i took the XR for a while and told my pdoc to switch me back to the regular kind. Because, i felt more in control of my anxiety if i knew i could take a pill as needed rather than be stuck taking 1 xr a day. I think the thought alone can induce panic attacks. I am now on Klonopin and it really has helped with panic attacks and social phobia..... (i am still a big fan of xanax, i took it for years) but the klonopin works better for SP and that was a main issue for me...
