This is not a rule of course, only my case. I took klonopin 1 mg and Parnate 40mg. After few months I noticed hypersomnia and increased depressive mood along with anxiety. I decided to taper off klonopin and slowly replace it by tranxene. Now I am on 0,125 mg klonopin tid plus 5 mg tranxene tid. This gaves me much more energy, less anxiety after 10 days. My goal is to go off benzo in few months. I will keep you informed what happens.
I was really upset, thinking that Parnate stoped working.

I just stopped klonopin last night for the same reason. I feel it depresses me. I started valium 5mg to replace it and was disapointed when I felt no different today. Tranxene is longacating valium isn't it? Do you think I need a higher dose of valium, or is it too soon to judge. Fondly, phillipa

You can not just stop Klonopin. Withdrawal effects may potentiate side efects. Depression may be worse. I had a very difficult time when trying to switch from klonopin to tranxene. It was impossible for me, thus I just tapper it off over a long time.
I have read somewhere that tranxene metabolites to valium, but it is not the same medicine. To compare the dosage go to:
http://www.dr-bob.org/tips/bzd.html.I started to feel the difference after 10 days of cutting of klonopin by 2/3.
