Anybody take baking soda with their amphetamines?
"Alkalinizing agents -Gastrointestinal alkalinizing agents (sodium bicarbonate, etc.) increase absorption of amphetamines." (http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/amphet_ad.htm)

Ok I just took some (half teaspoon in 4 oz. of water) because I've had a sour stomach all day...it's the first time I've ever used baking soda for this purpose (I didn't know it was used for anything besides absorbing refrigerator odors and cleaning before), and oh man, is it nasty to drink. 616 mg of sodium per half teaspoon freaks me out (an instinct I developed during my high-dose Prednisone days).

Did you notice a significant difference? And is it ok to take this stuff every day? On the box it says not to for more than 7 days.

I wonder if making it into Sherbet would help.

Would anyone know how baking soda would affect ephedrine?

Sodium bicarbonate is a net alkalizer, because the sodium ion stands in place of what would be the hydronium (acid) ion. So, taking sodium bicarbonate will consume acid in the stomach, alkalizing it (and making you burp carbon dioxide gas).

i take lots of otc calcium antacids like tums and rolaids which are composed mostly of calcium bicarbonate (i believe) and have not noticed a significant increase in the efficacy of my adderall. However I have also taken pills for urinary tract infection (glamorous i know...) and because they are urinary acidifiers, they do seem (for me anyway) to greatly decrease the efficacy of the drugs.

Alka seltzer should work. Now, if I can just find a non-acidic juice to mix it with and get rid of the taste. Isn't grape juice non-acidic??
