Dextromethorphan to Nardil...how long?

Posted by BIGDaddyachmed69 on May 7, 2005, at 2:23:59

Last sunday I took some cough medicine that had dextromethorphan in it...I have an appointment with my psychiatrist next wednesday, and he's planning on starting me on Nardil soon afterwards. I took my last dose of Paxil the same day. Do I have to wait longer than the standard recommendation of "at least two weeks" because of the dextromethorphan?

You may wish to consult a doctor about this, but my opinion, FWIW, is that you probably wouldn't even have to wait the two weeks given you were taking paxil (halflife on the shorter side). I definitely don't think that one day of dextromethorphan in the middle would matter. But since the reaction to DXM can be so life-threatening, I'd ask a doc.

Thanks. I was planning on mentioning it...it's too big of a risk.
