Sorry for the similar posts but this is what I am really trying to ask, just getting right to the point. What is the general consensus? Valium seems weak! It sedates me for a few hours then back comes the anxiety. Am on 40 mgs already and do not want to get up into the crazy doses like 80 mgs of Valium a day or start boosting it with alochol. I want xome level of a life, like many of us here I assume.

bottom line---some will say yes and some will say no...it just depends on your body chemistry--everyone is different. For me, its alot stronger.

Hi Paul,
Since you're probably going to be taking benzos long-term, it would be a good idea to try a range of different benzos so that you can find the one which works best for you.
Kind regards,
Ed.

Thanks. This is just dimply not cutting it and I have never been convinced that the old school benzos were as effective. Going to switch to K, 2.5 mgs.

Klonopin is the longest acting benzodiazapine (I think). I am concerned that you refer to to boosting
Valium with alcohol. That can be a dreadful mix. Some of us remember Karen Ann Quinlan. A few gin and tonics, a few Valiums, and a very sad result. Please make a commitment you won't supplement with alcohol...it's just liquid depression in a bottle (it's a CNS depressant too). Talk to your doctor about switching meds and get his or her good advice.
They now make Xanax XR or SR in a time released dose
in 1, 2 or 3 mg. Lots of options out there. Any CNS
depressant mixed with alcohol (pain pills or benzodiazapines) isn't a healthy mix. There is not recipe that can guarantee a good outcome.

Wow! I remember Karen Ann Quinlan. I used to drink beer with valium and sleeping pills a long time ago. And to boot I was pregnant, and the OBGYN was aware of it. That was before they knew the effects of meds and alchohol on pregnancy. I remember going into false labor with my third child. They gave me two sequenols in the hospital. They didn't even put me to sleep. Boy was I lucky! Fondly, Phillipa
