I have been on Parnate twice before with amazing results, unfortuetly I suffered a hypertensive crisis the last time. Now I am experiencing a horrible depression and my pdoc put me back on the parnate again, and I just cannot take it cause I am scared a HC will occur again--anyone know of anything even remotely similar to parnate that may work?

I would recomend buying yourself a blood pressure monitor. YOu can also ask your doctor for an emergency antihypertensive (not sure which one is used for this).
You could also try nardil which has a much less risk of inducing spontanious hypertensive crisis.
I had a spontanious hypertensive crisis on parnate.

What caused the crisis? I think being scared that you are doing have a crisis could make one have a crisis (maybe?). But was it from something you ate?

You had amazing results with Parnate, and that's really precious.
Why not try, how I don't know, to avoid the possibility of a HC?
Or manage the risk.

I truly understand where you are at, Maxime.
I have no profound or clever things to say to you that you haven't heard already. Know that you are loved and that out of selfishness, we want you to remain with us in the world of the living.

Why not just carry around one of the drugs listed below in case of a hypertensive crisis instead of avoiding Parnate?
Phentolamine (the best), clonidine, nifedipine, chlorpromazine (chlorpromazine can also treat serotonin syndrome, IIRC)
This is the end of the thread.
