One of my friends was recently prescribed molindone to help with her depression. Why? I remember when I was mis-diagnosed with schizophrenia the doc talked about it..I couldn't believe he'd recommend an old-school med (and I thought the DX was wrong, anyway) so I quit seeing him. I hear that this is considered by some to "an early atypical". Its also apparently weight neutral. Other than that...I dont know much about it. Anyone have experiences or knowledge about this medication?

All I can say is that your impressions of the drug are accurate and fall in line with what my doctor at NYU said about it. He suggested it as an alternative to treat bipolar depression. I was reluctant to take a step "backwards" regarding atypicality, so I didn't pursue it.

hey! OK, so I did a little digging...Moban is the drug of choice for conduct disorder, which I find disturbing...I mean, this is basically being used to tranquilize misbehaving teenagers. It seems more like a "chemical straight jacket" than the atypicals. I think my friend has told her doc no. On the upside...it doesn't seem to cause TD, although it does cause EPS (odd). It also inhibits MAO.
