I've decided on my own to do this. I can't justify taking these two meds for the little little amount of relief I am experiencing. I'm also packing on some unwanted weight. I've gained back 12 of the 30 lbs I lost while on Effexor. Too bad it pooped out on me. I'll continue my clonazepam and doxepin. My sciatica is really really bad again and I had my first cortisone shot in the a** today, hoping that will help. Despite all the tests I've had, my doctors can't tell me what is wrong with me. I often wonder if I am depressed because I am in pain or in pain because I am depressed.
Other than that, my three children are sick with some nasty viral thing, but my new job is going well.
Wishing you wellness,
Colleen

Colleen, pain can cause depression are you on any meds for that. The cortisone shots are not the best way to go in my opinion based on what happened to a friend of mine. And have you ever tried Luvox? It's approved in the US for OCD but in Europe for depression as well. I am on a low dose of it and hopefully will be able to raise it as I get no side effects from it. It's the most sedating of the SSRI's. Good luck . Fondly, Phillipa

I have tried Tylenol #3 (no relief), morphine (too many side effects), Voltaren (no lasting relief), and just was prescribed Ultracet today for the pain. I couldn't get my prescription filled because in the parking lot of the pharm, I would have had to park miles from the store and couldn't walk that far. I was in tears when I circled for the third time and someone "stole" the parking space I had my eye on. I took 800mg of Motrin and 2 Tylenols before bed tonight and got very little relief. I am up now at 2 a.m. after tossing and turning since 9:30. I had my GP do the cortisone shot today as a last resort.
Now I have never tried Luvox even though I have heard it mentioned here many times. So you are having some success with it? Good for you! I will talk to my doc about it the next time I see her which may be very soon. Thanks again!
Colleen
