Trileptal has lifeted my mood greatly. Although i think it might be time to go up from 600 to 900, due to racing thoughts, and more irritability lately.
My doc has suggested Neurontin to help w/ anxiety and racing thoughts. One for depression (trileptal), one for anxiety/sleep. Falling asleep isn't tough, but it's waking up with thoughts racing faster than ever, and acute anxiety.
he's suggested Nuerontin 3 times daily 100mg, plus 300 at night. Sound good?
PS-i am going through a valium taper, so that probably has to due w/ most of my symptoms.
Thanks for the advice,
Brian

In reply to Neurontin + Trileptal good combo?, posted by qbsbrown on March 25, 2006, at 5:21:35
The Neurontin makers had to pay several hundred million dollars in a lawsuit recently b/c of illegaly pushing their drug for bipolar, sleep, etc. Neurontin will probably help you sleep. It **might** help with anxiety (I took 300mgs, 3X daily, and it just made mine worse). But...there are probably other drugs to be used right now that would work better. Lyrica is out now; its kind of like super-duper Neurontin, and there's some research showing its helpful. Obviously, Benzos can help tremendously--I personally found Trileptal plus Klonopin to be a very helpful combo. And for some people BuSpar works well, although I don't think its all that impressive.
Good luck!

How long did you try neurontin? Unfortunately I'm in china, and Lyrica isn't available here yet.
I'm actually getting off of the benzos, so that's not an option, and buspar is supposed to really aggrivate benzo withdrawal.
Ultimately, i'm trying to get to be med free, and see how that goes, and where i am. But if it takes one or two drugs to get off of Valium, than im all for it.

Brian
