I started taking Effexor in the beginning of March and was upped to 175 mg/day in the beginning of April. All I have to say is WOW!!! I feel like a completely new person! I had many people telling me not to go on this med and to tell ya the truth I think that I made a great choice for myself! I closed myself in for a little over 7 years and now I am coming back out of my shell.
I have read alot about weight gain and such but I haven't had a problem with that. I have actually been losing and I am eating!
I made the mistake of forgetting to take my pills 2 days ago. I will NEVER do that again!! OMG! I don't even think I can put into words how I felt. I am however still having some trouble sleeping. My Dr recently percribed me Oxazepam to help with that. Has anyone else taken it? I am praying I find something that'll help!!
I found for the first 2 months being on Effexor I had a major drop in my sexual drive (poor hubby), but am slowly regaining it.
I just want to tell all the newbies out there that this drug can work! So far this is the only one that I have found that does.....for me anyways.

Good for you! Effexor worked very well for me for almost two years. I know what you mean about the insomnia. MY GP added 25mg of doxepin (a TCA) at bedtime and it worked very well with the Effexor. I still take it with my clonazepam and Lexapro. I hope you continue to feel so well!

It works.. thats good. But I'd be concerned about the effects you got when only missing 2 days.. you wouldn't want to be stuck on it forever because of hellish withdrawal =/

Similar -- for me Effexor was incredibly stimulating while I barely notice Cymbalta, but people vary and sometimes tolerate one or the other or both or none.
They both are invariably called SSNRIs or SNRIs. Cymbalta is theoretically a more refined version of a SSNRI.
This is the end of the thread.
