From McMan's Depression and Bipolar Weekly:

"this Newsletter is not flogging a dead horse by urging readers to make their own recommendations for changes to the DSM. The DSM-V is scheduled to be published in 2011. The APA has a special DSM website at www.dsm5.org that is soliciting suggestions, and this Newsletter is actively encouraging a DSM conversation."

I signed up for the newsletter.

I don't think they'll accept my suggestion for DECLANANIA 734.1(a) (http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/20060515/msgs/645112.html).

I also don't think they'll give up Spitzer's (IMO) misleading, unhelpful diagnostic checklists, axes, and trees in favor of my preference for nosologies and treatment suggestions based on discrete symptoms.

Think they'll include Irregular Polygon Syndrome? (nm)

Hello PN
My German GP did a PhD in differing concepts of health. He says the German understanding of depression is rather different. I'd love to know more about cultural differences in our understanding of mental illness and distress. He also said that in the DSMV they were going to get depression back to the core stuff and boot the subtypes into character disorders(or something like that).
