I akmm BP II , with cycling depression for years. No AD's have worked more than a couple of months at a time.
I have tried Lithium(900mg) and Lamictal (300mg) separately in the past, both may have been mildly helpful. ( As a a plus had no side effects what so ever with both .. and I usually do with medicine)
Has anyone had success mixing the two of these?
I am convinced that although I suffer bad depression.. mood satbilizers are the way to go for me b/c I have tried about every AD and nothing has worked... I would love to hear from anyone who has had some success with this combination . Thanks ,
JB

Jimmyboy,
Your depression sounds like mine. I am on that combo 1200 lithium and 200 lamictal but I'm also on a little bit of risperdal. I too had no success with AD. During the last 6 months I have known a hell of awful cycling where I would be ok two days then in hell for a week. It wasn't untill the lamictal was added to the lithium and then the lithium increased that I began to slowly have some relief. I don't feel perfect but my cycling is better and my depression more tolerable. I've heard its a great combination and I think its worth a try

For bipolar I, lithium + Lamictal is supposed to be a great combination.
For bipolar II, I'm not so sure. Lithium is not usually considered to be very helpful on its own. I guess you know that already.
Lamictal + Wellbutrin might be worth taking a look at if lithium doesn't work out.

Thanks,JB
