I was looking on clinical trials.gov for studies for Treatment Resistant Depression and it annoys me that some of the say that if you have tried 7 or more medications then you are excluded from the trial.
How can they say it is an experiment for Treatment Resistent depression but then say that you will be excluded if you are very resistant!

I was always afraid to participate in a study because so many of them require you to be off all meds. Roslynn

Yeah, I second that. When you look into many of the study protocols they turn out to be rather strict: no other meds, ramp up at a fixed rate, ramp down at a fixed rate. I dunno about other TRD people with serious problems out there, but I'm one delicate individual, and I wouldn't be able to comply. So I have to ask myself, what type of people are they really getting? They may be TRD in some respect, but I have my doubts as to how serious the conditions are.Studies of severely depressed TRD people are difficult since it is hard for them to comply to the protocols that would make it a decent study.
This is the end of the thread.
