Hi all,
I just started Emsam a few days ago and am experiencing lightheadedness, headache and spaciness. Does anyone know if these side effects go away as one gets used to the med? (It's been a while since I started any new meds.) the headache I can deal with, the other side effects are more troublesome.
Also when does Emsam kick in? I'm going through a lot of crying jags, I think from my system trying to adjust to no more Prozac after 10 years.
Thanks for any help!

Huge thread was started when first out by Robert David he took it with klonopin 2mg. Google EMSAM you will find it or Robert David and from what it says it goes away. Insomnia was a problem. I was going to go on it but couldn't afford the $500 still that expensive? Love Phillipa

Hi Phillipa,
I read that thread (400+ posts if I recall)...I'm having more side effects than some of the earlier folks. The lightheadedness is concerning me the most--feel sort of fuzzy. As far as insomnia goes, I am waking up a lot in the early morning even though I already take 50mg of Seroquel. But, it's only been a few days.My pdoc gave me samples first to see if I would respond. If I do get a good response, I am hoping my insurance will cover the prescription.
Best,
Roslynn

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I've been on EMSAM for 2 weeks and still have all of those side effects you mentioned (along with migraines). I'm trying to hang in there, but when you feel ten times worse, it's not easy. I'm beginning to think I'm losing my mind.
Wish I had some positive words, but I'm in the same boat.
Hopefully one of us will feel better soon.

I'm sorry you're experiencing all those symptoms.
You said you are having migraines...are you on the 6mg patch?
I stuck the patch on my chest today and have had to stop myself from trying to peel it off all day. Seems I am much more conscious of it there than on my arms. Have you had any problems with applying the patch? Sometimes it sticks to my fingers.Best,
Roslyn

Yes, I'm on 6 mgs. I've been putting the patch on my arms. When I tried my chest I broke out. I haven't had any problems applying it and I find that taking it off in the shower helps. The redness doesn't last as long.
Wish these side effects would end soon. I feel like a zombie.

Maybe I'll try taking it off in the shower too. Funny, it irritated my right arm but not my left.I too have that "medicated" feeling.
I had to switch my asthma meds (not to mention stopping prozac and my other psych meds) in order to try EMSAM. There is a lot to think about with this med.

Are you having trouble sleeping? I feel like a zombie all day and then to not sleep is killing me.

By the way, how many weeks are we supposed to have to wait before the antidepressant effects kick in?
