Well, I'm thinking the name of the website may have a little to do with it. Sometimes, when you're not feeling well, grammar takes a back seat?

If someone like you, don't understand that not everyone speak and write in english very well (BTW english is not the only one speak language in the world), at least you can't told US that we don't make some efforts to do it!!!
If you are not happy about my post, just dont read it. I don't know a lot of english people who will take the chance to write in french...
Think about it...

> Cheers, RickYou're so right Rick... add the fact that english is not my mother tongue and you will ending doing a lot of grammaticals errors also! My main problem is my verbs tense...the english expression...we use a lot of expression in french that cannot be traduce in english... I tend to do a "word by word" translation...so you see the result...Not very good...lol

Please don't post anything that could lead others to feel accused or put down, and please be sensitive to the feelings of others, even when yours may be hurt.
It might help to remember there are people posting here for whom English is not their first language. It would probably further a supportive atmosphere here if you just ask them (or others) to clarify things. And while it's fine to come to the defense of others (or sometimes ourselves) Dr. Bob asks we all remain civil while doing so - two wrongs don't make a right...
If you have questions about this or about posting policies in general, or are interested in alternate ways of expressing yourself, please see the FAQ: http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#civil
Follow ups regarding these issues should be directed to Admin, and should of course, be civil. Dr. Bob has oversight over deputy decisions, and he may choose a different action.

We should have a day when we're not allowed to use our first language and see how we go.

I can traduce it if you want...lol
"I would like to buy hard drugs"...
Funny...lol I can find a dealer for you if you want! hahaha ;-) I'm just kidding.
I just think some people lack of respect and didnt realize that we live in a world where at least 116 official languages exist. That's not because this website is in English that the people who lack some "pratice" and "learning" of this language don't have the right to to post some messages... at least we try and do the best we can...
That's better to try that do nothing at all...

1000 years ago the uneducated people who loaded the boats in the eastern Mediterranean could speak 10 languages well enough to take orders and do their business.

Its very understandable that people have trouble posting in complete sentences when they feel anxious and depressed...
...nonetheless, please don't jump on me but I do find it hard sometimes to comprehend some postings on here and I'm not going to direct it towards anyone in particular.
I guess one of my difficulties in parsing things is when there are no paragraphs or complete sentences.
A post is written like this:
Its been hard this week with the klonopin up 2 mg my doctor says that I have to keep trying with the bipolar things I dont know can anyone help me used to take depakote too
I'm really not trying to mock anyone but I can't understand postings like that. There's no sentence or paragraph. So its hard to respond at all.
And yes, I know for some English is not a first language.
Il est dommage .. mais j'ai oublié presque tous les français que j'ai étudié à l'université.(courtesy of Google.... parce que ... parce que ... J'ai oublié:)
I guess what I'm saying is.... that I can understand the frustration with trying to help people when things are incoherent........so I both understand why people can write incoherently and can sympathize and I can also understand the frustration so there's no need for the "f* that"....
...because while the post may have been harsh, there is something underlying it.
Oh, and with the Google translation (or any machine translation), its best to run the paragraph or page twice backwards -- that is, if you're going to write something, put it in and translate it into the language you want, and then put that result back in and put it back into your language.
If it doesn't make sense at all, there's a pretty good chance it won't make sense to a native speaker.-- Jay

You're right... I have to admit that I have a big difficulty with my sentences...like putting the word in the right order or put somes "," in the middle of my sentences. I think it can be hard to understand what I write sometimes...And no, I dont feel personnaly attacked about what you write ;-)
Google translator is not very good, even if you search for one word or a complete sentence. Most of the time, the result dont make any sens. Some words stay in "French" and others don't... that's why it's write in big letters in the left corner of the website that it's Google Traduction BETA...lol I think it's a Beta version since forever...hahaha
Anyway, that's easy to forget a language you study at school if you dont pratice it in your daily life. I explain that point more clearly under...
I lived with only speaking english rommattes for 3 years and I had to learn fast my english. I was put in a context where I have to learn the english and speak it also, but in a faster way... I had no choice... Yes, my english level improve a lot in that 3 years period of time.
I move back into my native small city, where only 1 % of the population speak in english. That's all in french here... and I realize that after a couple of months, my english level decrease a lot. In fact, a lot of things I learn, like my verb tense or grammars tips are now completly forgotten...
Too bad... but it's like this. Some people can learn a lot of other languages with no problems at all, and other like me have to pratice a lot and need more times...
That's hard for me also to understand all the post here. Some people, who speak in english, don't take the time to write their message very well. That can be hard to follow for me... The same apply for French speaking people, they tend to use a very bad french writing... they use a lot of slang...
Well that's it...lol
I hope that what I write is comprehensive...
Bye!
Vincent ;-)

Hm, you're probably referring to me then? English is my mothertongue, but i really don't think much of the writing itself, and lose interest once i've jotted something down. or i dislike the extra artifice of formalized writing? sorry, ask me to clarify anything if you want...

Humm I don't know who referring to who exactly...that thread is hard to follow...lol
Anyway , I was not pointing out anyone... For me, it always taking a while before I understand something, even if it's in french...hahaha
I guess my memory is now on the "disable" mode...Another time, thanks to the benzo drugs for that...amnestic side-effect... You begin to forget things, after you begin to search things or words or anything else, after you say something and 2 minutes after you don't even remember what you said 2 minutes ago... i'm like that now...
I wonder how I can continue to drive my car and don't have an accident...lol Well I had a small one last december but not because of the benzo drugs...more because of the Seroquel-XR...
Anyway, out of subject again...
Sorry, I had an urge need of writing something! lol
Bye!
