I take 10mg at night, and it works ok, yet there some time i just lay there and just say well, somethin has to be there. Like Xanax XR I can't take at night because my doctor doesnt want me to tu take 2mg twice daily.
Anyone taken Halcion?
compared with Ambien?

> compared with Ambien?Halcion is perhaps the most potent of the benzodiazepines. It will definitely put you to sleep (sleep initiation). However, because of its short half-life (1.5-3.0 hrs), there is often a loss of effect or even rebound awakenings throughout the night. You must either dose again in the middle of the night, or take a second benzodiazepine with a longer half-life to help keep you asleep (sleep maintenance).
I used to combine Halcion and Ativan h.s. and managed to sleep well. I had been taking an MAOI at the time, and was completely sleepless for almost two weeks before starting hypnotic therapy. Drugs that might be useful in combination with Halcion are Ativan, Restoril, and Lunesta. I would not use Ambien with Halcion. It is probably too potent, and might work synergistically with Halcion to produce amnesia, sleep-walking, night-eating, etc.

I think barbiturates can help some people with intractable insomnia whom don't respond to anything else.

Yes. I think I included that.
