Anyone have any experience with glycine for bipolar depression? It's used for negative symptoms of schizophrenia which I feel overlap at least with my depression and in some cases are the most troublesome like apathy anhedonia a volition. I'm starting to take 40g a day. Hoping it will give me some life, buprop, adderll, mirapex, etc. Still leaving me feeling removed and helpless and passive.
Also read at glycine is in fact sedating and can cause fatigue and calming, not sure that is what I need.
Anyone have any insight? Not too many studies out there.
It's either this, or switch it up and try nmda antagonists Instead of agonists like glycine

I took it for a year or so. It was mildly sedating and didn't do a whole lot.

Update: I am now going to try D-Aspartic Acid / Sarcosine combination that is being marketed as a testosteorne raising powder for bodybuilders. However some on the schizophrenia.com message boards have been trying it successfully for negative symptoms associated with NMDA hypofunction in schizophrenia.
This is a bit risky considering NMDA hyperfunction is one of the mechanisms postulated to cause glutamatergic excitotoxicity in depression and bipolar disorder, but i'm going to try and and see if it can help mood and motivation at all. I think its more complicated than just increase/decrease activity.
I'll let you know how things go.
