So what all is out there? I am a newcomer to the legal OTC herbal supplements and have only really started researching licorice, St. John's Wort, and yohimbe (I am aware gingko, ginseng, and kava are out there too). It would be nice to have something like a compendium going for Alternative Psycho-Babblers on the order of the chart of medications maintained by SLS.

Legal Psychoactive Herbs Over-the-Counter
(tentative list)(1) Ashwagandha
(2) Bacopa
(3) Chinese Club Moss (?)(=>"Huperzine A")
(4) French Maritime Pine
(5) Ginkgo Biloba
(6) Ginseng, American
(7) Ginseng, Chinese
(8) Ginseng, Siberian
(9) Gotu Kola
(10) Grape Seed
(11) Kava
(12) Licorice
(13) Maca
(14) Periwinkle (?)(vincamine => vinpocatine)
(15) Reishi
(16) Tobacco (It deserves a mention because of nicotine. Are there any legal OTC means of obtaining nicotine for internal consumption?)
(17) St. John's Wort
(18) Yohimbe
This is basically all those mentioned by Ray Sahelian in "Mind Boosters", with the additions of the OPC sources (French maritime pine and grape seed), licorice, tobacco, and yohimbe.
My feeling is the OPC sources might be better considered as nutritional supplements. Any comments there?
Any others you think should go on?
This is the end of the thread.
