How different exactly are these 2 neurotransmitters? Does anyone have any good info on the differences between the two. I know they are closely related. For instance, Strattera is a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor(i think) and Amineptine is a dopamine reuptake inhibitor. What differences do you think you would notice between the two?? Would one help attention or motivation better? Are they basically the same? Sorry for so many questions, just trying to learn more here. Thanks for any replies.

They are both made from the same precursor and that is tyrosine.One is made from the other.Ne seems to be related to anxiety and panic attacks .Dopamine appears to be related to psycosis and mania.Ne and dopamine may both help ADD.Ne and dopamine are both effected by seritonin and ssri drugs.Dopamine controls the sex drive by regulating the sex hormone called prolactin.Ne and acetacholine control you sleep cycles .Acth can stop ne release and let you sleep.Ne controls NPY ,a nuropeptide ,that controls circadrian rythyms ,appatite and sleep wake cycles.ne also controls CHR release from the hypothalmus and this controls cortisoil release from the adrenal glands .ne also controls skin pigment and the sympathatic nerous system.Acth controls the parasymapthic nervous sys.Release of ne from the LC causes panic and anxiety.Dopamine makes you happy ,manic or psycotic.Acth makes you depressed or relaxed.OCD is caused by dopamine release in the caudate which is part of the basaial ganaglia.You can get psycotic.It is all very simple.Read The BIpolar CHILD for it all.

Welcome to the wonderful world of neurotransmitters, its a fasinating subject that not only helps your ailments but you end up being more knowledgable than you doc. Ps my doc is getting very nervoius by the things I say.

Yes, I know exactly what you mean. My doc is frustrating me. He wanted to prescribe me Wellbutrin for anxiety?!? ... he said it was a "Xanax cousin"?!? I've been experimenting a lot with supps & meds trying to figure out where i'm deficient or even overly sufficient. I have a decent understanding of neurotransmitters and there effects. It's just the epinephrine/norepinephrine/dopamine connection that boggles my mind. Of course, then you got newer drugs coming out that act on specific receptors 5-ht1,5-ht2,5-ht3 and so on and so on. It's frustrating trying to find the best combo.

Your doctor is going to kill you.Welbutren is the worse thing for anxiety.It increseases the out put of NE.It belive it harms brain cells.it stimulates DOpamine and NE.Side effects are agressive behavior,irratability,and felling like you want to kick someones butt.All due to dopamine and ne.Ne causes a raceing mind.ne causes anxiety .Webutrun is a stimulant not a dowener.it makes anxiety way worse.
