Hello, I would like to use the Barnes underarm temperature thyroid test to adjust my T4 dose.
I am taking T4 but my morning temperature is below 97.8 F.
I hope some people here are more experienced than me.
I have some doubts:
+ if I am already taking T4, should I take the temperature before or after taking the T4 dose?. If after, how many minutes?.
* for how long should I place the termometer (in the morning test before getting up)? 5 minutes?
* if the room is cold does this affect the result or not?
Thanks for your help.

Check out:
and go to FAQ. There is a whole bit on the test, and hopefully will answer some of your q.

I will ask this in detail to my doctor and according to lab tests results I will ask if I can up the dose a bit.
