I like it so far. Supposed to be good for negative symptoms when used in conjunction with an antipsychotic. It may take several months to see results, so I am crossing my fingers. I haven't had any side effects with 120mg per day. One of the few herbs that I like so far.

In reply to Ginkgo for schizophrenia, posted by Lao Tzu on June 3, 2011, at 15:53:26
It's been about a week on the Ginkgo and my depression has improved. So far I like this herb augmenting with my antipsychotic. I have not had a great response from any herb except kava kava and St. John's Wort. That was years ago. Ginkgo seems to be beneficial, just don't know how it will affect negative symptoms. One study used 120mg up to 3X per day, but just to be safe I'm sticking with 120mg per day. Because it is an antioxidant, that's where the magic is for schizophrenia. Most herbs did nothing for me, but ginkgo is interesting. It seems agreeable to me so far, whereas most other herbs I've tried either aggravated my depression or did nothing to quell it. You have to be careful with it if you are taking any anticoagulant medications. Definitely talk to your doctor before you take it if this is the case.
